Personal Project
"Don't Add to the Pile" is a made-up campaign raising awareness of the impact of textile waste on the environment.
The fashion industry alone contributes to an estimated 10.5 million tons of textile waste annually in the United States. This excessive waste results in the emission of harmful gases and pollutants, and the depletion of resources, as the production of textiles, requires significant amounts of energy, water, and raw materials.
By encouraging responsible disposal and reduced consumption, the campaign hopes to reduce the contribution of textile waste to landfills and promote sustainable practices in the fashion industry.
This concept came to life for a graphic design course at Art Center College of Design.

To highlight the magnitude of the issue of textile waste, I chose powerful imagery of a vast pile of discarded textiles to showcase the sheer amount of waste generated by the fashion industry.

Careful consideration was given to the merchandise used to promote the campaign. Reusable tote bags made from natural materials can be easily recycled, reducing the burden on landfills. In addition, mini sewing kits were selected to encourage repairing and repurposing clothing instead of throwing them away.
